The Compatibility INIT works by keeping track of applications that are incompatible with the Quadra's cache. When the INIT sees that one of the applications in the exception list is running, it will automatically cut off the Quadra cache to avoid conflicts. Many of the popular Macintosh applications which are incompatible are in the pre-defined list, but should you need to add or remove an application, the “Edit List” option in the control panel will allow you to edit the internal list with a few mouse clicks.
When you press the “Add” button to the right of the “Applications” list, a standard file dialog appears and lets you select from any application. Selecting an application adds it to the list of programs that will automatically turn off the cache.
To delete an application, select it in the list and then press the “Delete” button.
Once you have added your selections to the lists, hit the “OK” button to record the changes. Should you decide that you have made a mistake in adding elements to the list, press the “Cancel” button to prevent your chenges from being recorded. To discard all previously-entered changes, press the “Use Defaults” button.
